Not always. Some differences may be acceptable if they are clearly explained, documented, and judged low risk. The important thing is defining in advance which differences are blocking, which are acceptable with explanation, and which are informational only.

At minimum, test one standard run and one run that reflects real complexity, such as a cycle with deduction changes, time adjustments, a termination, or another exception-sensitive scenario. A single clean run is often not enough.

Treating the exercise like a rehearsal instead of a decision gate. If the team does not define what fields must match, how mismatches will be classified, and who approves go/no-go, the parallel run creates activity without reducing cutover risk.

Keep it short and decision-focused: what runs were compared, what fields were reviewed, which mismatches remain unresolved, which differences are acceptable and why, whether cutover is approved or deferred, and who approved the decision.
